Council of Eight
Greetings.

For some major time regressions in RttToEE and other situation, could anyone (Master Cook, help me) tell me the names of all the wizards that made the Council of Eight, the levels in which they are in and where i can find the relevant information about them?

The first request is the most important.

Mordenkainen and Otiluke were two, I think.

Thank you so much :D

Used to be Rary, I believe. I cannot forget this fella's name.

Jeez, it been a while so I forgotten their name. I remember one fella is really old and one young girl is neutral girl and have a pet dragon. Not sure about the other. Oh you cant forget Bigby!

One Elf, I believe he is a gray.

Re: Council of Eight
The Simbul and Elminster are not part of the Circle of Eight. They are from Faerūn. The Circle of Eight are from Greyhawk.

The original Circle consisted of Mordenkainen, Bigby, Otto, Rary, Nystul, Drawmij, Bucknard, and one other (I can't find the name). Tenser replaced one of the original eight, and later Otiluke also replaced one of the original eight. Jallarzi Sallavarian replaced Bucknard.

The Circle was then destroyed by Vecna, except for Mordenkainen. Mordenkainen cloned the Circle members and revived the Circle. Members at this time were Mordenkainen, Bigby, Otto, Drawmij, Nystul, Tenser, Otiluke, and Rary.

Rary then turned traitor and killed Tenser and Otiluke, then fled. These three positions were replaced by Alhamazad the Wise, Theodain Eriason, and Warnes Starcoat. This is where the Circle of Eight stands "today".

Edit: This information is from the Living Greyhawk Journal #0, which also contains the character levels and the basic stats (HP, alignment, str, dex, con, int, wis, cha) for all eight "current" circle members.

Full stats for Mordenkainen (as a Wiz27) can be found in the Epic Level Handbook.

Circle of Eight and Emridy meadows?
Can somebody tell me if the circle of eight had any influence during the battle of Emridy Meadows? The computergame ToEE shows the circle of eight intervening in the battle and helping the forces of Thrommel (intro movie). Was the circle involved with the battle or is this something the game-designers made up?

here's a good read to help clear things up (or murky them :P )

Re: Circle of Eight and Emridy meadows?
According to Gygax's GH novel Artifact of Evil, the Circle of Eight was at at least indirectly involved with the BoEM and ToEE.

For more info about the Co8 in 3e terms, see the Living Greyhawk Journal #0. IIRC, that article was posted on the wizards.com site as a .pdf, though I can't find it at the moment.

You can also research the Circle in the Greytalk Archive at www.greycitadel.com/greyc...eytalk.nsf and on www.canonfire.com

Enjoy!

Unfortunately you can't really go by his novels _too_ much, as I hear he blew up Greyhawk in one of them! :D

Of course I prefer to keep to the Gygax feel rather than the Wizards rewrite as I can, but that's just me ;) (of course without a blown up world)

Re: Circle of Eight and Emridy meadows?
We really should research that, I suppose - my understanding was that in one of the novels, Tharizdun actually gets loose and destroys / takes over a fair chunk of the lower planes... :)

That's correct, Caedrel: in the final Gord novel, Tharizdun destroys the universe of Greyhawk.

The last few Gord books deal extensively with the politics, machinations, and personages of the lower planes, and can be quite inspiring!

Re: Council of Eight
I tracked down the Circle of Eight document I mentioned before (Living Greyhawk Journal #0) to www.furyondy.com. The direct link to the file is here.
