PSP Maps
Hello, I ran through RttToEE a little while ago and loved the PSP maps that someone on here made. Now I'm doing Banewarrens and trying, unsuccessfully, to make the maps myself. I have Paint Shop Pro 8, could the person who made those maps either respond here or email me at alacast23@aol.com with instructions on how to make them? I have managed to manipulate some things, but I only really used PSP to display the maps (I could manipulate the layers toolbar enough to turn them on and off Just can't make ones myself). I FEEL like I'm really close to figuring it out, but I'd rather just know how to do it right, without spending five more hours fooling around.
Thanks!

Re: PSP Maps
I've redone all the RttToEE CRM maps, plus the OF, IF, and Recovered Temple (upper). I posted them to Zans's site, but I am waiting for him to get back from vacation and release them. benhamtroll, I believe, is the originator of the idea and the first maps.
I was planning on doing all the BW maps, too, but I'd be happy to help you out instead. Step by step:
1. Scan the map.
2. View the layer palette and pin it up (to the right perhaps). You will see one layer called Background.
3. Decide which area (e.g. room) you want to cover first. It is generally best to start on areas at the outer edges or on the inside.
4. Create a new raster layer and give it an appropriate name.
5. Use the clone brush to cover up the area with the surrounding background walls, or whatever. Note that you must right-click while on the Background layer, and draw on the new layer.
6. Repeat 3-5 for each area.
I 'clear' out secret doors by drawing in the background in a separate layer.

Re: PSP Maps
I have the PDF so I actually copy and paste, not, scan, but alright
About how long does it take you, and when were you planning on doing Banewarrens? Maybe we can split them up?
Thanks for the speedy reply,

Map-maker, map-maker make me a map...
I've been Photoshopping the RTEE maps using a process very similar to what's described above (scan whichever sections got explored, delete what didn't, smudge missed secret doors, join sections together where appropriate) and a fast-moving 3-hour session that requires a lot of work (missed half the rooms, all the doors, but ran through 2 map sections) only takes about 20 minutes. Usually they don't cover so much ground, so it's typically only 15 or less. As far as I'm concerned, this is a wonderful investment of my effort away from the table so that we don't have to worry about having an obsessive party cartographer freaking out about the map not conforming to her graph paper.
I also delete most of the "thickness of the walls for atmospheric effect" because it's a waste of ink.
Nice little touch I added -- when the party gains an alliance with creatures (like D'gran's trolls), I can do an opaque copy of some of the map that they haven't explored, such that they can see where things should be but still realize that they've not actually explored that area for themselves yet.
I leave the encounter numbers on, but wish I didn't have to -- I like that WotC posted .jpgs of the Spider Queen maps without. I also scribble the notable events on the maps as we go ("Here be Umber Hulks" kind of thing); use of a drawing tablet (I splurged a couple of years ago) can add a nice hand-written feel to an otherwise overly-precise map.
Hope it helps,

Re: Map-maker, map-maker make me a map...
Okay, the maps are now available, both PSP and PSD. Note that the PSD ones I did are in the file Photoshop-Layered.zip. I have also included readme files to help explain them (for new DM's).

Well, that's cool, Infiniti, but I'm doing Banewarrens Do you want to split up those maps, or no? I've already done the Broken Seal Area. If you don't want to do it, I understand, just tell me so I can get to work
Thanks,

Re: Map-maker, map-maker make me a map...
I'd have to scan them in, and quite honestly I'm not sure when I'll have time, sorry.
So, get to work! If you want to send me a map or two and I can offer comments, send me e-mail at lance-at-marrou-dot-net.
