Rings of Force Armor
On page 154, the rings of Force armor are described, but I can't find anywhere in the books those rings being worn by anyone.

Where can the players find those rings?
One of my players is a monk who could really use this kind of rings and the dominant dwarven fighter of the group wears the bracers they found. Even though he don't really need them.

Re: Rings of Force Armor
The rings of force armour belong to the Champion of Elemental Evil and as such are given to Lareth the Beautiful when he is recognised as the Champion in a ritual performed in the temple in the outer fane. Assuming your players do not yoink them first, you can equip Lareth with them towards the end of the adventure.

They can be found in the area accessible from the greater temple in the outer fane, I think its called the black cyst, but I cannot remember exactly or what page it is on, as I have lent my book to a friend so he can run the campaign.

IIRC you have to flick a switch in the temple, followed by blowing a horn found in the same area. You do this 3 times and a shimmering purple curtain appears, you walk through it and gain access to an altar, which has the rings and the rod of force hidden in a secret compartment.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Simon.

Thanks for the Help.

It sounds really difficult to find.

Btw, how do the players can find out about the way the altars functiuon?

Is it just me, or are the Rings completely redundant for Lareth? Do they give him any benefit that he doesn't already have?

I don't think they give him an armour bonus as such, I forget what plussage his bracers give him as equipped by Monte. At the very least, the crackling field should cause concentration checks by naughty PC's trying to harm him. :p

Entifidich, if by altars you mean the altars in the recovered temple and the fire temple, (the neato ones that give you a 50,000 gp item for a sacrifice) the details of how they work are given in the Book of the Dark eye, found in the fire temple and also possibly somewhere else (I forget where exactly).

Zansforcans website has a useful file that someone has written up to be passed out to your players as a reference for the book, or alternatively, they can ask their friendly neighbourhood Tharizduni cultist. :D

"So Tessimon, how about letting me know how the altar works and you can have your legs back?" :evil

Cheers,
Simon.

In fact I meant the altars in the CRM which, when you stan atop of it, touch the key and say a certain thing (like: "Stone crushes the weak") you get blessed y the key and can enter the corresponding door of th outer fane.

Do you have the URL of Zansforcans site?

Hmm. I'm using the All-Four-Half-Elementals-Nierethi as my Champion, and he's got Fire Shield as a spell-like ability from one of his half-elemental templates, so I think I'm going to drop the Rings of Force Armor in my game. The Rod of Force already gives the party way more treasure value for defeating the champion than his CR would suggest is reasonable, so I don't think I need to replace it with anything.

Don't forget that there is no treasure associated with Imix. Instead of removing it, perhaps you can just alter it slightly, or replace it with something more useful.

"Btw, how do the players can find out about the way the altars functiuon?"

They ask anyone who has been through the ritual. Some of the guards might know it. If you want the party to find out, then next guard they question has seen the blessing performed and know how it works. Of course, this assumes that your group doesn't just kill anyone and anything in their way.

Re: Rings of Force Armor
Good point about Imix's treasure -- he does have a pretty spiffy greatsword, but that's it.

Any suggestions for a replacement for the 45kgp Rings of Force Armor that would go well with my Champion Nierethi?

Without a doubt, boots of teleportation. Imix's greatsword will be useless to the PC's, unless they find a titan to sell it to.

Yeah, those would sure be nice, but they don't really have much of the feel of the force rings. I'd like to replace them with something that feels "right" as a badge of office of the Champion, along with the Rod.

Re: Rings of Force Armor
I haven't done the math, but how about a crown-like headband that can spew all kinds of magic - and maybe generate a deflection shield around the Champion?

Hmmm.... looking around, a Scarab of Protection seems about right... implemented as a big gold combined holy symbol of EEE and Tharizdun, with the inverted Y atop the obex.
