Orb of Oblivion??
Hi,
Beyond its special powers as described in the appendix what is this used for?
Does the Champion use this to summon the Princes of Elemental Evil who can then in turn free Tharizdun?

In general, the idea is that the Champion needs the Orb to summon the princes, who then can summon Tharizdun. Personally, I think the Orb will also be used by the princes. The question I have is why does Monte give the Orb to Maliskra and not Lareth? Make sure you don't leave it (with the other items) in the Black Cyst. I'm still not sure what to do about the Orb of Silvery Death though. I don't like Artifacts to be just lying around.

The doomdreamers probably don't trust the champion enough to hold the orb; Maliskra is basically his handler. When the doomdreamers are ready to summon the princes, she brings him the orb to let him use it.

V. is directing my players to get the Orb of Oblivion which has just recently been taken (unbeknownst to him). Thus the players will end up with the Orb of Silvery Death.
Since V. has told them what the OO is for this should spur them to make haste to the Recovered Temple.

Giving the orb to Maliskra also makes it harder for a group to upset Tharizdun's plans in one lucky encounter. Lareth will be a priority target once the group figures out he's critical, so giving the orb to someone else reduces the likelihood of the cult's plans being ruined in one scry-buff-teleport raid.
