Where do y'all live?
I've been wanting to ask this for a while, suspecting that there are quite a few southerners on this board.
I live in Asheville, NC (western NC, in the mountains).

Neighbours...
That's the thing that takes a bit of getting used to when you're a Dane (and I expect from any other small country): 200 miles, and you're still kinda neighbours. Here, 200 miles will get you far into Sweden (which to the geographically challenged is another conutry  ) and even a decent way to Germany.
Anyway, that's the thing I think is great with the Net in a D&D sense: So many people from so many places helping each other out. Once my party returns to the Temple (in 2-3 sessions), I can tell them that I've had help and inspiration from all over the world. I'm still enough of a hick to think that that's pretty cool.

The Hague, the Netherlands (which is located in Europe, but it is NOT particularly close to Denmark and it has got nothing to do with Kopenhagen capitol of Danmark. I don't know why some Americans somehow seem to think Danmark and the Netherlands are one and the same nation. The Netherlands are located between Germany and the North Sea).

Well, would it be so bad to be connected to Denmark...?
I think many mistake Denmark and the Netherlands, because both countries have a queen, are smalll and flat, have a rather relaxed look on sex and p0rn  , and our langauges are somewhat similar (more than, say, Danish and Greman IMHO).
But yeah, it's fun. Like when you tell people where you're from, and they nod knowingly, and you know that they don't have a clue.

No idea, it is just a general perception from my limited time I spoke with Americans about the Netherlands. It also refers to what Bush once apparently said about Amsterdam being the capitol of Kopenhagen or something like that. I will be the first to admit though that I heard that from others, so I might be totally wrong in that regard (and if so my appologies).
I did once hear an American ask on television to a Dutch reporter why we named the Dutch city Harlem after Harlem in New-York (in a documentary about the people of New-York). That made me laugh real hard.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only canuck on this board.
I'm from Winnipeg Canada, just a wee bit north of Minnesota.
and if you are wondering, yes, we in Canada do all live in igloos and drive dogsleds and play hockey! (just joking)
and Thrommel, just look at it this way.......at least you didn't get beaten by Belarus. (sorry if there are any Swedish hockey fans on this board.....better luck in 2006)

Hey Lenny
Sitting at home here in Flint Michigan (yup a "Michigander"). My Father was orginally from Baudette Minnesota near the lake of the woods (Which was supposed to be a part of Canada, until some mapper/surveyor made a mistake). Was wondering if you are living near this area (the piercing point into Canada?)

Heya, Dalavar...you're about the closest I've heard of yet. I'm cooking up all sorts of Elemental Evilness in Boise, Idaho.
And Siobharek, I know what you mean, but from the opposite perspective. Boise is the only "interesting" place within several hours drive in any direction. I can't imagine what it would be like to have another country that speaks another language 200 miles way...in some cases, in EVERY direction.
